Science Labs

The Homeschoolers Hangout has two Science Labs available for your use. We have 4 High Quality student microscopes that are suitable for Elementary through High School. All lab fees include the use of microscopes, prepared slides, dissecting tools, and dissection guides. Dissecting specimens are available for an additional fee.

90 minutes = $5
Monthly Pass- unlimited appointments (90 minute slots) $15 month
School Year Pass (any 9 consecutive months)- unlimited appointments (90 minute slots) $99 per year

Lab Safety Rules

One person per microscope. Parent assisting is OK and encouraged. Children under 12 MUST be accompanied by a parent or a sibling over age 18. Children 12 and older conducting Chemistry, Physical Science or Physics experiments must be accompanied by a parent.

Conduct yourself in a responsible manner at all times in our laboratories. Follow all instructions carefully. If you do not understand a procedure or directions please consult a parent or a staff member of The Homeschoolers Hangout.

Do not eat food, drink beverages or chew gum in the laboratories.

Unauthorized experiments are not allowed.

Be prepared for your work in the laboratory and be familiar with your assignment before you arrive. Read all instructions thoroughly before conducting your assignment.

Never fool around in the laboratory. Horseplay, practical jokes and pranks are dangerous and not allowed.

Observe good housekeeping duties. Be sure you have cleaned up your work area before leaving.

Keep hands away from face, eyes and mouth while conducting dissections and using lab equipment. When conducting dissections, please wear gloves provided by The Homeschoolers Hangout.

Wash your hands with soap and water after conducting all experiments.

Dress properly during a lab activity. Long hair, dangling jewelry and baggy clothing can be a hazard. Pull long hair back.

Report a spill or breakage immediately. Do not panic.

All chemicals in the laboratory are to be considered dangerous. Avoid handling chemicals with fingers. Do not taste or smell any chemicals.

Be alert and proceed with caution at all times.

We can get lab supplies for any of the following curriculums: Abeka, Alpha Omega Lifepac, Apologia, Bob Jones and Switched On Schoolhouse.
