SUMMER OFFERINGS

MUSIC CAMP
Come join us  for an exciting music & performing summer camp with Sound Zone. Sound Zone is a children's performing group where your boy or girl will learn singing, dancing, microphone use, drama, and performing techniques in a no pressure fun atmosphere. We will spend a week learning songs, and dances, sign language, learning about music theory, and even making some of our own intruments. We will end the week by performing for parents & freinds. You can sign your child up for the week for Ages 3-1st Grade or 2nd Grade-5th Grade. Art-tastic!

Grades: K-6 (Ages 6-13)
Instructor:  Regina Dugan
Class Description: Students will learn about famous artists and do projects related to the artists style.  A variety of projects will be completed.  Drawing, painting, paper mache, clay and much more!
Monthly Fees: $30 a month with one time material fee of $30 due at registration.
Day/Time:  Wednesdays 9:00-10:30 am beginning September 10, 2008

Music Classes from Sound Zone 
Starting September 9, 2008 and ending December 16, 2008 
Meets once a week on Tuesdays
9:00-10:00 Ages 3 to Kindergarten
10:15 - 11:15 1st-3rd Grade
11:30- 12:30 4th-6th Grade

No materials fee.  First month tuition due at time of registration to hold your spot.  Thereafter tuition is due at the first class meeting of each month.  Phone registration accepts Visa and Mastercard.

Class Description:
Your child will learn basic knowledge of singing, dancing, music theory and vocal training and showmanship.  Each program will be age/grade appropriate and includes locomotor movements, music, reading, writing, math (counting beats etc), showmanship, creativity and social skills.  Email us to receive a detailed description of what each level will be doing.

 ASL Sign Language

Ages: 3-17
Instructor: Tami Taylor
Class Description: Students will learn (ASL) alphabet, numbers, Lord’s prayer and Christmas Carols by December.  TBA: field trip in December to LaVista to sign Christmas Carols for the deaf. 
Monthly Fees: $30 a month with one time $10 material fee due at registration.
Day/Time: Mondays 9:00-10:30 beginning September 8, 2008  

Elementary Science Workshops (August-December)

These workshops are non-stop science experiments.  They are fun with some very unusual experiments and always something to take home.  When available, coloring sheets and/or literature that correspondswith the experiments will be provided.  Pre-registration and fees are due two weeks prior to the workshop.  All fees include materials.  If you have questions you can call MissHannah at (512)227-1360  To register for workshops call The Homeschoolers Hangout at

Each Workshop is $15 per student.   All the Elementary Science Workshops are for Grades 1st-6th, always on a Thursday from 10:00-12:00.

Dissection Workshops

Homemaking for Young Ladies (Home Economics)
Ages: 8-12
Instructor: Mrs. Kris

Class Description: This is a class for the younger homemakers.  We will do a younger version of "Homemaking for Ladies."  We will enjoy the many skills of homemaking from preparing menus to shopping, to preparing the food, to cooking and presentation.  We will discuss nutrituous meals and learn the wonderful arts of grinding and making bread, making yogurt, cheeses, dried foods, jerky and more.  We will also make simple soap, basic crochet and knitting, cross stitch/needlepoint, doll quilt, sew an apron, and learn to create and stamp a special card.  We will also study what it is to keep a home.  We will go through some bible studies to understand God's encouragement for us ladies in helping us to bless those in our homes.

Supply Fee: $40 (one time- each semester)
One Time Curriculum Fee: $30
Monthly Tuition: $25 - ask about multiple sibling discount
Day/Time: Thursdays 9:00-10:00 AM



MEET OUR TEACHERS 

Mary Roberts- Co-owner of The Homeschoolers Hangout. Mary is married to Brett and is a homeschooling mom of three boys, ages 16, 12, and 4.  Mary and her family moved to Texas just three years ago from San Jose, CA.  They moved to Texas so they could raise their boys in a small town, and be near her grandparents.   Mary's backgorund is in sales, training and leadership.   Her favorite job has been raising and teaching her boys.  She thinks learning should be fun!  In her free time she loves to read anything and everything from how to books to mystery novels.  She also loves to hang out with her boys from the skatepark to the baseball field, and anywhere in between.  She has a love of Science, Literature and History. 


Amanda White- former owner and instructor for Sound Zone.  Amanda has worked in pre-schools and Montessori schools for 15 years.  She teaches Sunday school and has been an education director at church for several years.  She has been a worship leader for 2 years.  Amanda has owned and taught Sound Zone for over 12 years.  She quit teaching when her second child came along.  She now homeschools her two sons.  Her music program will be enjoyable, fun and exciting!  Your child will love learning music with her and her children.

Regina Dugan
- Regina has been married for 21 years.  She is a homeschooling mother of 4 (ages 19, 16, 9 & 6) for over 17 years.  She learned Sign Language in high school, and used it interpreting in worship services, weddings, and social events.  She also worked with with a deaf church in Austin for 4 years, and attended the Austin Sign Language School mastering levels 1-5.   Regina taught a course in sign at the South Austin Homeschool Co-Op.  Regina also loves art and enjoys all things artistic!

Miss Hannah is a Homeschool Graduate.  She loves working with children and is passionate about all things scientific!  Miss Hannah also teaches piano and enjoys sewing and weaving.
