The Homeschoolers Hangout

Curriculum Bookstore & Activity Center

About Us

Hi!  Welcome to The Homeschoolers Hangout!

Who are we?  We are a homeschooling family in Lockhart, TX who have a desire to fellowship with other homeschoolers.  It is our mission to provide quality and popular homeschooling curriculum and supplies to Central Texas homeschoolers, and to offer affordable enrichment classes and activities.

Mary- I'm the Mom!  I love homeschooling my boys.  The bookstore and activity center was an idea that God sent to me when I was praying about my business.  I have had an entrepreneurial spirit all my life.  For the last 11 1/2 years I have been with Mary Kay Cosmetics and for 5 of those years I was a Senior Sales Director.  I loved my time in Mary Kay and enjoyed all the success and perks.  However, when I began homeschooling my boys I had less and less desire for my Mary Kay business and more and more desire for homeschooling!  Today, I am still a beauty consultant for Mary Kay, but my heart is in schooling my boys.  Everything that we offer here at The Homeschoolers Hangout is a direct reflection of what I as a homeschooling mom would want.  I will be working in the store, teaching workshops and enrichment classes.  I also am responsible for managing our inventory, so any suggestion you have you can direct it to me.  We hope you love our store as much as we do.

Brett- He's the Dad!  Brett is the supportive Dad.  He pretty much lets us all do what we want unless he thinks it's dangerous.  He will probably be seen hanging around the store just seeing what we are up to.  During baseball season he helps coach Bradley's team.  He can also be found fishing on weekends with Bradley.  He has also been known to take Nolan to the pond to feed the ducks.  If you are wondering why there are fat ducks at the Lockhart City Park, now you know.

Chris- She's the supportive Grandma.  She told Mary from day 1 of the homeschooling adventure, "You can do it!"  Chris is our bookkeeper, office manager and also works in the store.  She is still learning the details of homeschooling and is eager to work closely with her 3 grandsons, Lucas, Bradley and Nolan.

Jason- Jason is a supportive family friend.  He is our brainy "tech guy."  He is responsible for fixing anything we break!  HAHA!  Seriously, he is our computer guy, maintenance guy and pretty much a jack of all trades that we can't live without!  He can often be seen working in the store.

Lucas- Lucas is my 16 year old son.  He is about to complete his Jr. Year of high school.  He sometimes helps out at the store, but his main job is his schoolwork and entertaining his 4 year old brother.    Lucas is an avid skateboarder and any free time he has, you can bet he is on his skateboard!  He loves to visit the different skate parks and he loves to jump over anything with his skateboard!  Check out our photo gallery for pictures of him showing off.

Bradley- Bradley is my 12 year old son.  Most days he can be found with me at the store doing his school work or creating a piece of art.  If you see any "artsy" type messes around the store, that's probably his doing.  Bradley LOVES fishing and he can be found with his nose in a fishing book at any given time.  Bradley is also a great baseball player and during baseball season he and Brett can be found on the field.

Nolan-  Well, Nolan is my 4 year old and he is one smart cookie.  He will likely be seen doing puzzles, playing play dough, painting, singing his ABC's or counting things.  He will be starting Kindergarten soon!

We can't wait to meet you!!
